Committee of the Whole

All former committees have been combined into one Committee that provides a less formal discussion forum for members and residents to discuss current issues and topics of concern. This committee seats all current board members who alternate as chairpersons each month. Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month.

Arbor Committee

       The Village has appointed a citizens' committee to oversee the Arboretum. One of the committee's primary responsibilities is to                 pursue sources of financial support for this addition to the park as well as organize planting/maintenance days.

Sparks in the Park Committee

Planning & Zoning Commission

To hear, prepare, recommend, and make determinations or variations to the Zoning Code and promote the realization of the comprehensive plan for present and future commercial and residential development and to establish reasonable standards of design for residential subdivisions and commercial developments with respect to public improvements. The commission meets at 7:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month.

Mission Statement


The Public Works Department of the Village of Rochester exists to maintain, enhance, and expand the infrastructure and physical plant within the jurisdiction of the Village. Infrastructure and physical plant include a water distribution system, sanitary and storm sewer systems, streets and alleys, parks and public grounds, and public and Village - owned facilities. The Public Works Department operates within the policies and budgets set by the Board of Trustees as administered by the Village Manager and Superintendent of Public Works.


SERVICE PHILOSOPHY

In striving to fulfill its mission, the Public Works Department bases its priorities and activities upon these principles:

The quality of life for residents and taxpayers of the Village should be maintained as necessary; enhanced when possible; and expanded when appropriate.

Maintenance, enhancement, and expansion should be as seamless and invisible as possible in order that little or no disruption to the flow of Village life is felt by residents.

Due to the seasonal nature of public works projects, priorities for work will vary season to season.

Response to needs will be immediate as necessitated by concerns for these priorities: Public SafetyDisruption of the flow of Village lifeBudgetManpower, and Equipment.
